About the Product
Product Description This is your government! This text provides students with an introduction to the major aspects of Canadian politics with a special emphasis on the unique challenges our diverse population places on the practice of democracy and good government. With each aspect covered, it raises thought-provoking questions designed to encourage students to think critically about the important issues and topics currently shaping politics in Canada. Featuring relatable examples, a full-colour interior, and a jargon-free writing style, Canadian Politics will engage students and provide them with the foundation they need for future study. Review “The boxed material in the chapters is quite interesting and would certainly provide some useful context for students. It would be quite easy to generate classroom discussion and debates based upon any of the boxes.”--Andrew Molloy, Cape Breton University “One of the strengths of the text is that it is pitched at a first year audience.”--Paul Prosperi, Langara College “I used the first edition of this book in the past and I would choose this edition as it more clearly deals with and talks about public involvement in Canadian politics and touches on all of the topics I cover much better than the first.”--Anonymous About the Author Eric Mintz is an associate professor of Political Science and Environmental Studies at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Memorial University of Newfoundland.
