George Ramsay, Ninth Earl of Dalhousie, served as Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia (18161820), then as Governor-in-Chief of British North America (18201828). During his 12 years in Canada, Dalhousie both commissioned and collected a stunning variety of artworks.
