About the Author
Anastasia Bakeis a registered, licensed M.S.W social worker as well as a sessional instructor for the School of Social Work at the University of Windsor and a full time professor at St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Sciences in the Department of Community Studies. She has worked extensively with children and families for nearly 30 years in a variety of capacities. Stasi's passion to advocate for the rights and protections of others was ignited through her work and lengthy experience in the field of child welfare and as a school board social worker.
Throughout Stasi's varied career, she has provided crisis intervention, clinical counselling services and treatment groups, to child, adolescent and adult victims of interpersonal violence. She has comprehensive experience in the family court and criminal justice systems on behalf of victims. Stasi has participated in numerous board and community committee working groups to improve services for clients.
Stasi's work has been recognized by her peers and her home community. In 2001, she was the recipient of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (South Western Branch) Distinguished Service Award, honouring that year's theme of Social Advocacy. In 2004, she was the recipient of the New Beginnings Community Excellence Award, Social Worker of the Year.
